What Is the Starfish Galaxy Sculpture Trail?

The Hornsea Collective is bringing a series of large starfish sculptures to Hornsea and the East Yorkshire coast — each designed by a local artist. Alongside the trail, our Creativity Programme offers free workshops, school activities and environmental storytelling for all ages. This project celebrates our place, our coastline and our artisan community.

“ I’d be honoured to contribute to The Starfish Galaxy, a creative and inspiring project that showcases the unique charm of our seaside town. The sculpture Trail will be a fantastic, free activity for both locals and visitors – encouraging creativity, promoting wellbeing and supporting Hornsea’s brilliant small businesses.”
— Charlotte Eldred
“I wanted to be part of the Starfish Galaxy trail as I thought it played to my strengths as an artist and is a great platform to push the message of sustainability and reducing our plastic consumption to a wider audience. ”

“The art sculpture trails are such a community inspiration and joy for everyone to follow and spot, having seen and been part of the puffin’s galore trail, these trails help creative stretch our skills to help bring awareness, inspire and raise funds for local charities, win win.

Very much looking forward to painting the starfish and being part of your trail.”
— Emma Garness
JUDY FLANAGAN
“It’s a privilege to be part of something that will not only brighten the community but also help put Hornsea on the map. Art has the power to connect people to places in a meaningful way, and I love the idea of creating something that families, visitors, and locals can enjoy for years to come.”
— Judy Flanagan
KATY COBB
“I love sculpture trails. They provide accessible art for everyone. They offer a free, outdoor, screen-free activity for families (as a Mum I appreciate the value in this!) This trail will encourage visitors into the town to visit all Hornsea’s great independent businesses, with a valuable message about caring for our coastal habitat.”
— Katy Cobb
“Walking on the beach in Hornsea at sunrise is a reset, an energising and spiritual experience full of positive energy, that I want to share with residents and visitors to the Starfish trail.”
— Helen Rowland
