‘Lake-Land By The Sea’
ARTIST: Katy Cobb (Wall Things Beautiful)
Katy Cobb, known as Wall Things Bright and Beautiful is an artist living in Tickton, East Riding, painting murals and street art in the local area.
“The design focuses on Hornsea’s features of mere and sea for providing both a sanctuary for wildlife and a lovely environment for residents and visitors. I took inspiration from vintage railway posters, which described Hornsea as ‘Lake-land by the sea’, and used a vintage-style font for the text as a nod to this.
I love sculpture trails. They provide accessible art for everyone. They offer a free, outdoor, screen-free activity for families (as a Mum I appreciate the value in this!) This trail will encourage visitors into the town to visit all Hornsea’s great independent businesses, with a valuable message about caring for our coastal habitat.
I really enjoy the challenge of painting large, 3D sculptures, and love seeing the interpretations of other artists.”
Lead Starfish Sculpture Sponsor
The Floral Hall & Café
Hornsea’s popular community venue, Hornsea Floral Hall & Café, is the lead sponsor of the Starfish Galaxy sculpture trail. Phase One of the Starfish Galaxy Trail, organised by the not-for-profit Hornsea Collective, has introduced six large, colourful starfish sculptures mounted on buildings around the town. Each is uniquely designed by local artists to reflect Hornsea’s rich culture, coastal charm, and creative identity.
“As a community-based venue, we believe the Starfish Galaxy Trail will attract new visitors, support local businesses, and help strengthen the town’s economy”, said Richard Carmichael, Chairman of Hornsea Floral Hall. “We’re proud to be the lead sponsor of something so positive for Hornsea.”
